The trial of a 25-year-old man who allegedly chased six police officers with a cane knife will begin in October.

Samuela Bokadi is charged with six counts of act with the intent to cause grievous harm, five counts of resisting arrest and one count of damaging property.

Bokadi and his defacto partner had an argument in July last year, and she went to Delainavesi Police Station in Lami to lodge a complaint.

It is alleged Bokadi followed her to the Police Station where he allegedly chased the officers and damaged the police property.

In court today, defense counsel requested for the charge to be dropped to a lesser count of criminal intimidation.

Defense argued that Bokadi had no intention to cause harm and that he was allegedly being chased by the officers and was just holding the knife.

The court heard the accused only stopped when his father calmed him down and he was arrested.

The State has made its position clear that it will not accept a guilty plea on the lesser charge of criminal intimidation.

The State said there was a partial admission in the caution interview.

He has been further remanded.

The case will be called at the Suva High Court on October 18th for a pre-trial conference.
