A 22-year-old man charged with one count of aggravated robbery has been given a suspended sentence.

Semisi Tunanuya appeared before Suva High Court today,

The court heard in October 2016, Tunanuya was involved in a street mugging in Laucala Beach, Suva.

He robbed a 46-year-old woman of her bag which contained $100 and a mobile phone.

Justice Judge Daniel says the accused is a first offender and saved the courts time by entering an early guilty plea.

The man has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for three years.
