Director of Public Prosecution Christopher Pryde says they will appeal against the acquittal of Australian national Yvette Nikolic who faced drug-related charges.

Pryde says the DPP will appeal the decision of the High Court to acquit Yvette on charges of importing illicit drugs into Fiji and possessing arms and ammunition without a license.

Yvette was acquitted of all charges following a no case to answer application on February 18th.

Yvette’s husband John Nikolic was convicted on the same charges and is currently serving 23-years imprisonment.
Pryde says the judge made an error of law in finding there was a no case to answer for Yvette.

The notice of appeal against the decision was filed in the Court of Appeal today.
