Ruling on former WAF CEO’s case next Thursday

The case of Opetaia Ravai against his former employers, the Water Authority of Fiji will be called for ruling next Thursday.

The former Chief Executive filed a writ of summons claiming defamation and breach of contract after being terminated from his post last June.

Lawyers representing WAF had earlier submitted the claim be struck out as it is an abuse of the court process.

They said the claim was filed illegally against a designated corporation and thus barred by statute for non-compliance.

The defense opposed stating the case be heard claiming Ravai’s termination was a breach of the Employment Relations Act.
