Private vehicle driver involved in Lakena fatal accident bailed

The driver of the private vehicle linked to the bus accident in Lakena has been released on bail by the Nausori Magistrates court.

36-year-old Eremasi Tikomailautoka from Naisaumua Village in Tailevu is charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving.

It is alleged that he drove his private vehicle in such a manner as to, in effect, forced the bus to reverse and subsequently tumble down the Lakena hill flipping over striking the roof of a house last week.

Two students lost their lives in this accident while two were admitted at the hospital.

Tikomailautoka appeared in the Nausori Magistrates court this week and the prosecution had objected to bail saying the offense is serious.

He had been released on strict bail conditions.

The matter has been adjourned to 5th November.
