Ravinesh Chand

The Nausori Magistrates Court has refused bail for the pastor facing charges relating to sexual offences.

36-year-old Ravinesh Chand from Nadali is charged with three counts of rape and one count each of indecent and sexual assault.

The pastor of a Hindu Christian fellowship is alleged to have raped a 15-year-old student who is also a member of his church, last Thursday.

The alleged incident took place at Luvuluvu, Nausori.

The pastor re-appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne this morning where his bail application was rejected.

The application has been refused on the grounds that the alleged offense is of public interest.

The case has been transferred to the Suva High Court and he will appear on April 10^th.
