Ravinesh Chand

A 36-year-old pastor alleged to have raped a 15-year-old student in Nausori made his first appearance at the Suva high court this morning.

Ravinesh Chand from Nadali has been charged with three counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.

He is alleged to have committed the offenses on the student who is a member of his congregation in Luvuluvu earlier this month.

The state requested time to file information and disclosures.

Chand’s lawyer Jeetendra Reddy informed the court that he has filed his bail application.

Chand has been further remanded in custody.

The matter has been adjourned to 2nd May for Chand to appear before Justice Daniel Goundar.
