The trial of a military officer, Rajiv Padhyachi, charged with attempted murder continues in the Suva High Court.

Padhyachi while being cross-examined told the court that he did not pay back the money to the complainant on time.

He stated that between November 3rd and 23rd of 2017, he received a total of $23,000 cash from the complainant.

Padhyachi also agreed that some of this money was used for his personal entertainment.

The accused also informed the court that he was not in a position to pay back the loan as he used to earn $20,000 per annum.

Padhyachi also stated that he had also paid some of this owed money in the form of paying for the complainant’s hotel accommodation and travel expenses which was never recorded.

28-year-old Rajiv Padyachi allegedly attempted to murder his partner by drowning her in Colo-i-Suva in September last year.

It’s alleged that Padyachi pushed his partner into the water and tried to drown her.
