A military officer charged with raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter has been remanded in Police custody.

This afternoon, the Suva Magistrates court heard that the 48-year-old man allegedly raped the complainant on numerous occasions between 2011 and 2018.

The Police Prosecutor served the accused with full phase disclosures and requested an interim domestic violence restraining order.

The Magistrate has issued an interim DVRO and transferred the matter to the Suva High Court as the offence is indictable and can only be trialled by the High Court.

The Court has advised the accused to file a notice of alibi if he wishes to within 21 days.

The matter was adjourned to June 10th.
