The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission had brought the charge against the Max Value and MH Super fresh supermarket after FCCC officers conducted a surprise inspection.

During the inspection at MH Superfresh, it was discovered that a bottle of Fabuloso was displayed and offered for sale at $5.95 but at the point of sale, the item cost displayed $6.45.

On the 27th of September this year, MH Superfresh was fined $20,000 for false and misleading representation and a month later, Max Value Supermarket was fined $15,000 for overcharging on price-controlled items and failure to mark on price-controlled items.

The matter was called in the Suva High court yesterday.

Both parties were given 28 days to file their submissions.

The matter has been adjourned to 27th January next year.

Meanwhile, Carpenters Fiji Limited has again been fined $20,000 by the Nasinu Magistrate’s Court on two counts of failure to display prices on certain price-controlled items and non-controlled price items.
