A 31-year-old man charged with one count of rape has been further remanded in custody by the Nasinu Magistrates Court.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele.

It’s alleged that between March 1st and December 25th, 2016, the accused raped a 15-year-old girl in Nasinu.

The girl in this case was the complainant.

The police prosecutor had made an application for the matter to be transferred to the Suva High Court as the offence was indictable.

The court heard that the accused and the complainant were not related – however they were from the same settlement in Nasinu.

The matter has been adjourned to April 5th for first call.
