Man charged for trying to sell stolen livestock

The man accused of stealing livestock from two separate farms in Sabeto over the weekend has been charged.

The accused has been charged with two counts of theft.

An attempt to make some quick cash was short-lived for the Sabeto man as he was arrested by police following a tip-off from a member of the Crime Prevention Committee on Saturday.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the suspect approached the member at his home in Keolaiya on Saturday and attempted to sell the livestock which was allegedly stolen from a farm in Sabeto, Nadi.

Naisoro says the member was suspicious of the suspect’s approach and called Sabeto Police where the livestock matched the description of theft of livestock report lodged by another farmer.

Police were deployed to the scene at Keolaiya where they found the cow and the calf , and arrested the suspect.

All livestock have been returned to the two farmers.
