A 45-year-old man previously charged for raping his 63-year-old mother has been acquitted of the charges.

The Suva High Court today acquitted the Kadavu man who was charged with two counts of rape.

The three assessors earlier today found the man guilty of one count of rape and not guilty of the second count.

Judge Justice Daniel Goundar overturned the assessor’s opinion and stated that the mother of the accused had told the court that this was not true.
