A man who allegedly raped a six-year-old girl inside a school toilet this year appeared in the Suva High court this morning.

Anesh Kumar Govind is charged with one count of rape.

It is alleged that he was dropping off his son at school when he saw the six –year- old girl.

He allegedly took the student to the toilet, locked her in a cubicle and raped her.

High court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar noted that Govind has other pending matters in court and has a previous conviction of indecent assault.

Justice Goundar also said that the allegation against Govind is serious.

The state has been given time to file information.

Govind has been told to make a formal bail application and has been further remanded in custody.

The matter has been adjourned to 30th July for plea.
