Lateef further remanded

Former Suva Lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef who has been charged with three counts of being in possession of illicit drugs has been further remanded in custody.

Lateef appeared in the Suva High Court today to review his bail ruling and has been given 14 days to file a proper application.

He has been charged with being in possession of illicit drugs for the fifth time, arrested following a raid at his house in Nailuva Road, Suva on the 14th of last month.

The former lawyer was allegedly found with white substances weighing point zero six three grams which later tested positive for methamphetamine and dried leaves that tested positive for marijuana.

Meanwhile, Lateef told the court today that he is suffering from severe gastritis, and has not gone for medical examination, for a month.

Lateef told the court that he is not able to stay in remand for another month.

The Judge then stated that the law and procedures need to be followed.

The case will be recalled on October, 2nd.
