Hearing date set for PCN board and staff members

A hearing date has been set for ten board and staff members of Pacific Community Network.

They have been charged in relation to Lagilagi Housing Project.

The matter was called in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

PCN National Director Semiti Qalowasa was the only person present in court while the others were presented by their counsels.

Semiti Qalowasa, Chantelle Khan, Suliana Siwatibau, Samuela Saumatua, Mere Krishna, Vijay Naidu, Akuila Yabaki, Kevin Barr, Cama Raimuria and Aisake Casimira have been charged in relation to corruption relating to the housing project.

All ten have been charged with one count each of accepting payments without being able to supply, misleading conduct and unacceptable conduct.

It is alleged that the incident occurred between 28th October 2015 and 19th January 2016.

The counsel for the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission informed the court that he will file further disclosures.

PCN Director Semiti Qalowasa also faces a separate charge of failing to furnish information to FCCC.

The hearing date has been set for a week from 9th to the 13th of March next year.

The matter will be called on 24th February for additional disclosures to be filed.
