Former SODELPA candidate who is facing contempt of Court charges has been ordered by the Suva High Court to sort out his lawyer.
The matter was called for hearing however, his lawyer Niko Nawaikula was not present in court.
Anirudh Sharma informed the court that Nawaikula is in Northern division and was not aware of the matter as his office had failed to remind him.
The High Court Judge said this is the second time the hearing is being vacated as his first lawyer’s practising certificate had expired and now Nawaikula did not turn up for the case.
It’s alleged that on 27th September last year, Sharma posted scandalous, defamatory and derogatory comments against the presiding Magistrate in a criminal proceeding against one Imran Khan, who was charged for one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Sharma posted comments on Facebook together with a snapshot of a Fiji Sun article titled “Nasinu businessman appears for a drug charge in Labasa”.
A final hearing date has been set for next Tuesday and Sharma has been told to get his lawyer or the matter will be heard without his lawyer.
