The accident last Wednesday claimed the life of two students while two remain admitted at the hospital.

Jattan’s defense lawyer claimed that her client was assaulted by other remand prisoners.

She said that this happened under the supervision of police officers

She also said that her client has not been able to report the matter following which the magistrate ordered for Jattan to be taken to the Nausori magistrates court.

During the bail hearing, the defense said that her client will no longer drive a public service vehicle and will start doing farming to support his family.

However, the prosecution objected to bail.

The prosecution said that if Jattan can be assaulted while in remand than he cannot be safe if released on bail.

He said that Jattan should be remanded for his own safety.

The matter has been adjourned to tomorrow morning for bail ruling.
