Assessors to give opinion in Nikolic case

The Suva High Court has summed up the case of Australian national, John Nikolic charged with drug related offences.

Judge Justice Daniel Goundar has given directions to the assessors through the evidence presented in court.

The judge has also asked the assessors to use the evidence presented before the court when making a decision.

The assessors are currently deliberating and are expected to deliver their opinion in an hour’s time.

Nikolic was charged after drugs, cash, arms, and ammunition were found on board his yacht the ‘Shenanigans’ in Nadi last year.

Nikolic is charged with two counts each of importing an illicit drug with two alternative counts of possessing an illicit drug.

He is charged with a count each of possessing arms and ammunition without holding an arms license.

He was arrested after authorities seized 13 bricks of cocaine weighing 15 kilograms as well as ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of $30 million from their yacht.
