A 74-year-old man charged with one count of rape has been further remanded.

The man is alleged to have raped a woman from the village where both the accused and complainant reside.

The incident happened last month.

Appearing before the Suva High Court today, the state requested for 21 days to file information and disclosures.

This is to require a formal bail application.

Justice Daniel Goundar said that rape is a serious offense.

The case has been adjourned to March 6th for a plea.
