25-year-old cops 16 months for burglary, theft

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of one count of burglary and theft.

Tevita Nabuka who is a farmer pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that he entered into a businessman’s house and stole assorted items and jewelry valued at $2, 350 on January, 2017 in Nausori.

Nausori Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne says it is the responsibility of the court to see that the public is safe from such people.

The court also heard that Nabuka was not a first offender as he had committed the offence while serving a suspended sentence for another case.
