17-year-old student arrested for drug possession

More drugs continue to be seized by the Police with two more people arrested having being found in possession of drugs since Tuesday.

A 17-year-old student of Wainunu, Bua was allegedly found in possession of a small clear plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The discovery was made by a teacher at the school premises on Tuesday.

Drugs have been sent for analysis as police investigation continues.

In another incident, Police raided a house of a 58-year-old man of Nakasi on Tuesday after a tip-off.

It’s alleged the suspect was found in possession of 18 sachets of dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil in the suspect’s pants.

The suspect is now in police custody and drugs have been sent for analysis.

Meanwhile, Police officers also uprooted 476 plants believed to be marijuana from separate farms on Kadavu in the past two days.

325 plants were uprooted from a farm in Nacomoto village while 151 plants was uprooted from a farm near Namajiu village.

Police are yet to arrest the owners of the farm.
