Alleged murderer gets a lawyer after High Court request

Vilimoni Lalaobouma appeared in the Lautoka High Court today charged with one count of murder and three other offences linked to two separate cases.

A 19-year-old man alleged to have stabbed a police officer to death in Lautoka last month has engaged a Legal Aid lawyer.

In the last court sitting, the Lautoka High Court Judge Justice Sunil Sharma informed Lalaobouma that he needed to have a lawyer represent him.

Prosecutors have also sought time to file and serve information and disclosures.

Lalaobouma is alleged to have murdered 24-year-old Police Constable Siuta Niumataiwalu outside the Churchill Park grounds after being apprehended for an alleged robbery.

The case will be called again on the 5th of December.
