Former police officer Kelepi Kolinisau convicted of one count of manslaughter has been sentenced to four years, ten months and twelve days imprisonment.

Former police officer Kelepi Kolinisau convicted of one count of manslaughter has been sentenced to four years, ten months and twelve days imprisonment.

While sentencing, the high court judge said that Kolinisau breached the trust and abused his authority when he kicked 26-year-old Josua Lalauvaki who later passed away on October 11th.

The judge stated that Lalauvaki sustained injuries and passed away after being admitted at the CWM Hospital for a month.

The court heard that on September 2nd, last year, Kolinisau assaulted Lalauvaki outside a nightclub in Suva and Lalauvaki died after a month.

A non-parole of three years, two months and twelve days have been set.
