The Nausori Magistrates court will this morning rule on a bail application by the bus driver.

The 46-year-old who was involved in an accident in Lakena Nausori that claimed the lives of two students.

Shalen Jattan is charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving.

He was produced in a special court sitting on Saturday and has been in remand since.

Jattan’s lawyer yesterday said that her client needs to recuperate and he can do that at home.

She also claimed that her client was assaulted while in remand at the cell blocks at the Nausori court yesterday.

The matter will be called at 9.30 this morning.
