Court releases Padarath on cash bail bond

The Suva High Court has released a cash bail bond of $5, 000 for Benjamin Padarath today.

High Court Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza prepared the order for the money to be released on two conditions that were laid out by prosecution.

Prosecutor, Sam Savumiramira requested for the previous bail conditions to remain valid, however, defense suggested a fresh bail undertaking to be filed.

Defense counsel, Seruwaia Nayacalevu pressed for the conditions to be revoked on the grounds that Padarath is operating a business and has a lot of travels around the country.

Justice Hamza informed Padarath to sign a fresh bail bond of $5,000 and present one surety, who is the mother of the accused, Lavenia Padarath.

The passport of the accused has been surrendered to the High Court registry.

The matter has been adjourned to next Wednesday.
