Counselling offered to students after murder

Students of Penang Sangam High School in Rakiraki are being offered counselling following the gruesome death of Year Ten student, Simran Singh on Wednesday afternoon.

Singh was killed as she got off the school bus near her home in Naria.

Students and teachers have also been expressing their grief in the form of a memorial for one of their most loved students.

Simran was brutally killed in front of some of her school mates as she got off the school bus on Wednesday afternoon.

Her father remains in hospital from injuries he suffered when he tried to rescue Simran.

Family members are awaiting word from the police about a post mortem examination.

They will then decide on a date for Simran’s funeral.

Meanwhile a 36-year old cane cutter is being questioned by police about Simran’s death.

He is likely to be produced in a special sitting in court tomorrow or on Monday.
