Council Urge Farmers

July 5, 2014 1:23 am

The Sugar Cane Growers Council is urging all cane farmers to adopt the habit of delivering fresh green cane during this crushing season.

Executive Chair Sundresh Chetty told FBC News, burnt cane delivered to the Mills will never produce good quality sugar.

Chetty says sugar buyers will always look for good quality sugar to buy.
According to Chetty when good quality sugar is manufactured and exported the cane farmers will than get a good price for their cane.

He says the Council is saddened at the fact that some cane farmers have lost their crop to cane fires before the crushing season began.
