The Nasinu Town Council is coming down hard on residents caught littering.

14 cases are currently before the courts as they failed to pay their fines within the 21 days notice.

Kama says the Council’s Litter Prevention Officers (LPOs), who are legally empowered to issue spot fines, are vigilant with litter bugs when patrolling the Council’s seven wards.

People caught littering could face a maximum penalty of $250 with additional court charges, under the Litter Decree 2008.
