Household shoppers who think they’ve been paying more at the check-out are right.
The Bureau of Statistics says a wide range of foods in its survey rose by three per cent in April.
There were other increases – in heating and lighting, five per cent: transport, one per cent and durable household goods by half a per cent.

The average annual rate of inflation for the 12 months to April has gone up by 8 point 2 per cent while the month on month comparison shows a 6.4 per cent increase over April 2010.
