Coordination a challenge: CCU

June 28, 2012 7:04 pm

There is a need for a better coordination of all activities in the country to tackle climate change says the Climate Change Unit.

A Climate Change Technical Committee workshop has heard that the lack of coordination between government and NGO’s is a constraint to the implementation of the National Climate Change Policy.

Foreign Affairs Director Political and Treaties Esala Nayasi says it is a challenge they aim to address by the end of the workshop.

“Most of the ministries and civil societies have been carrying out activities and we have found that we need to coordinate these well and also put in place proper strategies for us to really address climate change in a more holistic approach.”

Another challenge they face is funding.

The workshop – which ends today – aims to adopt a structure for the coordination of climate change activities towards the implementation of the Climate Change Policy.
