Contraceptive usage rate increases

The contraceptive usage rate in the country has increased over the years from thirty to forty percent.

Speaking at the Reproductive Health Symposium, Health Minister Rosy Akbar, highlighted that there is a need to increase and improve the supply of quality sexual and reproductive health information.

Akbar says both men and women should be informed and have access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of family planning.

“We want to empower our people to take ownership of their health and we also want to assist our people to achieve their full health potential by providing them with quality preventative services for a sustainable health system.”

Akbar says providing access to these services will ensure people are making informed decisions about their lives.

Meanwhile, she says access to quality sexual and reproductive health, especially family planning, is essential for improving a person’s health.
