Miss World Fiji’s national costume is a reflection of today’s trends yet anchored by the roots of culture and tradition.

The attire is also themed on sustainability and durability.

Designer Hupfeld Hoerder says the personality of Nanise Rainima, the 2017 Miss World Fiji Queen has also been taken into consideration given she’s the first I-Taukei to represent Fiji to the event.

“This costume is inspired by a traditional Fijian Meke Costume but it’s very contemporary which means I use five natural fibres and a combination of natural fibres and fabric with shells and magimagi.”

Miss World Fiji’s National Director Andhy Blake says they’ve also ensured Rainima has a customized dance just for the global pageant.

_"We’ve gone with a really contemporary costume this year which Nanise will wear when she performs dances of the world and she’ll be doing a Seasea that was choreographed with the help of Master Lai Veikoso from the Fiji Arts Council.”

Rainima leaves Fiji today for China for the competition which will be aired live on the 18th of November on FBC TV.
