Consumers to be mindful of specials offered by traders

October 19, 2017 5:26 am

The Consumer Council of Fiji has warned consumers to be mindful of specials offered by traders.

Chief Executive, Premila Kumar says when products are being put on special, it doesn’t mean prices are low and you have to buy in bulk.

“You only have to buy those products that you need, because specials will come and specials will go. Because sometimes, we get enticed by the price, we buy large quantity and put it into your safe place, and if we don’t use it within that period, the product expires so instead of saving money one is wasting money, so consumers need to be mindful of that.”

Kumar adds consumers should always look out for expiry dates, and the conditions of the products before purchasing them.

The Consumer Council of Fiji received 51 complaints so far related to Diwali shopping last month through its National Consumer Helpline.
