The Consumer Council of Fiji has signed an agreement with all three telecom companies for a twenty four hour helpline.

Telecom Fiji, Vodafone and Digicel have agreed to below market rates for all calls coming into the Consumer Council complaint section.

Council Chief Executive Premila Kumar says the toll free line will run across all three telecom networks.

“When we talk about toll-free line and free of charge calls then obviously we need all 3 telecommunications companies, they are the only one that can make this happen. The delay was to some extent the negotiation of the toll free rates, the initial rates were not too conducive to the Council.”

The consumer helpline numbers will be announced tomorrow by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
