Consultations to begin on Development Plan

June 10, 2015 6:23 pm

The government is about to set off on a national exercise to collect views for a five year development plan which will form the basis of all government policies and strategies in the years to come.

Permanent Secretary for Finance and National Planning Filimoni Waqabaca says country wide consultations will be held so that the plan encompasses the views of as many Fijians as possible.

“It will articulate what government intends to do during the 5 year period. Whether it’s building how many roads, hospitals, electricity, water – those type of development issues.”

People are being encouraged to contribute whatever they think is vital – there are no preconceived ideas.

There will also be a twenty year plan which will envision what Fiji will be in 2035.

The ministry is about to release a schedule for consultations which begin on 22nd June.

Fiji hasn’t had a national development plan for twenty seven years.
