Construction on new Nasinu Court House begins

Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum this morning officiated at the ground breaking ceremony for the new court house at the Nasinu Magistrates’ Court.

Nasinu is the largest municipality and a major corridor in the Nausori-Lami section.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the new court will give a ‘sense of township’ to Nasinu.

“The judiciary is much larger than what it was and we need to be able to provide a conducive environment for judges and magistrates and the staff to do their work well.”

The new facility will include four courtrooms including Magistrates Chambers and other support offices, four Tribunal rooms, Magistrates Common Room, Library, Administration, Storage space, archive room, server room, audio/visual room, Assessors room, two Exhibit rooms, Witness rooms, other stakeholders office, eight cell blocks, sick bay, services yard and a car park.
