The construction of the 140 berth marina at Nawi Island in Savusavu is expected to commence late next month.

Marina construction experts Bellingham Marine of New Zealand have been awarded the contract to build the multi-million dollar cyclone proof marina.

Bellingham Marine NZ General Manager Bruce Birtwistle says this is their single biggest project they have done in the Pacific, outside of Australia and New Zealand.

Birtwistle says this will be a landmark project they will be proud of delivering.

“We are looking to develop 140 berths, everything from 10 to 85 meters. So, the unique opportunity here is to build a marina in Fiji that is cyclone proof and can accommodate those big vessels.”

Apart from offering to berth yachts and superyachts, the full-service marina will boast world-class facilities and services.

Construction of the marina is expected to be completed in 12 months and should be opened in time of the Americas Cup which will be held in New Zealand in 2021.
