Work related conflicts is a major challenge that human resource practitioners have to deal with and it’s becoming a concern for many.
This was revealed at the Fiji Human Resources Institute workshop in Suva today, where facilitator, Resident Magistrate Andrew See stressed on how this can impact an organisation’s performance.
Magistrate See says personal conflicts have a lot of implications on a workers performance.
“Overseas I’ve seen that it even leads to things like employees suicide where work place bullying for example can remain undetected and the extremes of that can be where people so distraught with the whole environment that they take their own lives. So there’s some real implications for that, often though we see people just refusing to cooperate with each other, trying to work around each other and it’s just inefficient for a work place it causes dis-function.”
Other issues discussed included absenteeism, sexual harassment, attitude and health and safety.
About 50 representatives from different work place attended the workshop.
