Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho is expected to make a statement soon in regards to the alleged dissemination of false information by a newspaper in regards to a man’s drowning incident in the Western Division.

Qiliho was in Nadi yesterday visiting the site of the incident and was briefed by his officers about the statements that had been gathered from the witnesses.

The Police Commissioner says they have gathered enough information that contradicts what was disseminated by the news outlet.

Earlier this week, Qiliho issued a directive to look at relevant provisions of the law in order to take the newspaper to court.

Qiliho adds the news report caused a lot of animosity.
