The Namara community in Tailevu is advocating environmental sustainability through a programme called ‘Yaubula Day’.

Youth Coordinator Sekaia Rabila says through the celebration they are aiming to revitalize their traditional environment and encourage proper waste management.

“The community thrives to maintain the cleanliness of our natural surroundings, the marine ecosystem, and forestry and ensure proper disposal of the rubbish. This activity will set a platform to the future generation Namara to continue the good work that we have been doing”.

Rabila says the success in promoting conservation in Namara begins with changing the mindset around the use of natural resources.

Meanwhile, the theme of the event in iTaukei is “maroroi au, au na maroroi kemuni” (protect me and I will protect you).
