The investigation regarding a complaint against the Commissioner of Police Major General Ben Groenewald has been completed.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms the file has been submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions this morning.
No further comments will be made until the file is returned from the ODPP’s office.
A complaint was filed against Groenewald for allegedly interfering with an investigation.
The matter related to a 59 year old diplomat at the South African High Commission who was involved in an accident on Friday night.
The diplomat was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and the vehicle he was driving hit another vehicle killing its driver.
Groenewald later issued a statement saying the diplomat was entitled to immunity under the Vienna Convention.
