Colo-i-Suva family in trauma after robbery

A team of investigators have been mobilized to look for five suspects who allegedly robbed a family at Vunikawai, Colo-i-Suva are on Friday.

Police confirms five masked men who were armed forcefully entered the house of a 49-year-old businessman and allegedly stole cash and jewellery.

Victim Satish Kumar says at around 2am he heard dogs barking and an hour later he heard his father-in-law screaming.

Kumar says he jumped out of his bed and went downstairs where he saw his father-in-law confronting masked men.

“I came down and I noticed four masked men on my stairs, upstairs on the way. I had grabbed a knife by then and I encountered them. I held them for some 30 minutes but as soon as I came out I told my wife to ring the police which she did, locking her- self and kids in a room and alerted the police."

He adds that the masked men attacked him with anything and everything they could get hold off.

Kumar and his father-in-law sustained injuries and were treated at the hospital.

Kumar says the masked men allegedly took off with more than two thousand dollars cash, laptops and mobile phones.

He says his two child aged four and a half and six years have been traumatized.

Police investigation continues.
