Collective approach needed to overcome rape and violence

A non government organisation believes the government should increase its budget to direct services for victims of abuse and sexual violations.

Save the Children Fiji, Chief Executive Raijeli Nicole says government agencies play an important role in providing safer public spaces for children.

However, Minister for Women Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says it’s not only the government but a collective approach is needed to overcome such acts.

“I think we have done enough speaking we need to rise up and collectively show support to these families and victims, that is what is needed now and the Ministry stands to support families and victims of those disgraceful acts that continue to occur in our societies.”

Akbar is urging the public to report violence against women and girls.
