January 28, 2019 6:00 am

Forty villages in the maritime and rural areas will be given 31 fiberglass boats and motor engines by the Fisheries Department.

Minister, Semi Koroilavesau says this will assist the villagers to look after their resources properly within their traditional qoliqoli areas.

Koroilavesau says this is a continuation effort by the ministry and is hoping all those benefiting from this will make use of the opportunity.

“Hopefully this program me will generate income for the villagers so they can look after themselves and their daily needs and also for education and other necessary requirements within their communities.”
Meanwhile, Koroilavesau along with other Fisheries officers left Suva last night for the Lau Group to commission fisheries stations in Naroi and Cicia together with ice plants.
