Close to 200 complaints on FNPF contributions received

One hundred and eighty complaints have been lodged at the Fiji National Provident Fund so far this year by members whose FNPF contributions haven’t been paid into their accounts.

FNPF Manager Contribution, Collection /Compliance Ratu Peni Gonelevu says this is very worrying.

Gonelevu says this is not allowed as it’s compulsory for all employers in the country to deduct their worker’s FNPF contributions.

“When they come through to complain, we have to prove that these complainants work there and whether their deductions is correct but when they are operating and you catch them up front operating and not deducted they are willing to pay because they wanted to comply with the law rather than being embarrassed to go through the process of court and go through all this.”

Gonelevu says 13,000 employers are currently operating business in the country.
