Climate Change threaten food security: Kolitagane

Climate Change threatens any countries’ ability to ensure food security, eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development, hence, swift action needs to be taken now.

This was reiterated by Agriculture Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, David Kolitagane during the launch of the Pro-Resilience Fiji- Strengthening Climate Resilience of Communities for Food and Nutrition Security Project.

Kolitagane says the $12.4 million European Union funded project aims at preparing farming communities through various programmes on how to deal with the effects of El Nino and impact of climate change.

He adds the Ministry, United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation and Adventist Development and Relief Agency will work together to carry out the program.
