Climate change takes center stage in the Hibiscus Festival

Climate change will once again take center stage in the 2015 Hibiscus Festival, which was officially opened yesterday.

Fiji and the rest of the Pacific are currently affected by climate change, threatening our basic rights.

Minister for Tourism Faiyaz Koya says the impact of climate change poses threat to our basic human rights.

He says so far three villages in the country have been relocated due to climate change while another forty five villages need to be relocated.

The theme of this year’s festival is Climate Change – Communities adapting from the ridge to the reef.
