COP23 President Voreqe Bainimarama says it’s everyone’s business to get involved in the fight against climate change.

This he says is why the grand coalition has been a constant theme in his messages.

“That is why Fiji has been so determined to help build a grand coalition of governments at every level, society, civil society, the private sector and faith-based organisations and to connect these efforts to as many of the 7 points 5 billion citizens of the planet as possible.”

Meanwhile, Fiji has taken tangible steps to move to more renewable energy with the launch in Bonn, Germany of the Nationally Determined Contributions or NDCs.

Climate Change Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the focus will be on the energy sector.

“Given that Fiji’s NDC has a primary focus on the Energy sector, the NDC roadmap focuses on three energy sub-sectors, namely one, the Electricity generation, transmission and distribution, two, the demand side of energy efficiency and three, the energy efficiency in land and maritime transportation.”

Among the discussions, tomorrow at COP23 will be delivering climate resilience to the most vulnerable.
