Strengthening alliances against the global crisis that is climate change will be a key agenda for continued Fiji, France relationship.
Newly-appointed French Ambassador to Fiji Jean-Francois Fitou says that his government will work with Fiji to ensure that more action is taken in the climate fight.
“I guess it’s the most important issue of our time, of our generation or generations. It’s evident for our young people, let’s say people under 30, but even for older people like me, it has become the most important thing to work and actually we have to do this in every country, in every place, with green economy, with trying to, actually not only trying to put the emphasis on the green economy but to get all the economy to get green.”
Meanwhile, for the very first time, New Caledonia will have an envoy to Fiji in Rose Wete.
“One of my main objectives here is to establish a formal, I guess cooperation agreement which we will call the joint framework cooperation that we already have established with the government of New Zealand as well as the government of Vanuatu.”
Wete says also high on the agenda is the continued development of people to people links as well as expanding the existing cultural exchange program.
